Presentation Mode lets a presenter guide meeting attendees through agenda materials in real time, so everyone can follow the same page or document during a meeting.
Presentation Mode is not a general menu item. It only appears when specific conditions are met.
What is Presentation Mode?
Presentation Mode is a meeting feature that synchronizes the agenda/document view for participants during a live meeting.
When active:
- A presenter controls the page or document being shown.
- Attendees can join the presentation and follow along.
- Attendees may be able to temporarily override the presenter view, depending on the platform.
- The presenter can be assigned in advance or selected when the presentation starts.
Why don't I see Presentation Mode?
You may not see the Presentation Mode option if any of the following are true:
- Your organization does not have the Presentation Mode feature enabled.
- The meeting was not created with Presentation Mode turned on.
- You are not viewing the meeting on the scheduled meeting date.
- You are not on the meeting's Agenda tab.
- The meeting is a workroom rather than a regular meeting.
- You do not have access to the meeting.
- The presenter has not been assigned or is not part of the meeting.
How to enable Presentation Mode when creating or editing a meeting
Presentation Mode is configured by an administrator when creating or editing a meeting.
- Go to Meetings.
- Create a new meeting or edit an existing meeting.
- In the meeting form, look for Additional Setup.
- Find Presentation Mode.
- Toggle Presentation Mode On.
- Assign a presenter.
The presenter must be an invited attendee of the meeting. If the presenter is not attending the meeting, Govenda will not allow them to be assigned.
How to start or join Presentation Mode on the web app
On the member web app, the Start Presentation or Join Presentation button appears only when the meeting is eligible.
To access it:
- Open the meeting on the scheduled meeting date.
- Go to the Agenda tab.
- If Presentation Mode is enabled for the meeting, you'll see either:
- Start Presentation — if you are the assigned presenter
- Join Presentation — if someone else is presenting
If you do not see either button, check the requirements listed above.
How Presentation Mode works on mobile
Presentation Mode is also supported in the mobile apps, but it appears only when the meeting is eligible.
On mobile, you may see a prompt such as:
- Start Presentation — if you are the assigned presenter
- Join Presentation — if a presentation is scheduled and available
The prompt appears only when:
- You are online
- The meeting is scheduled for today
- Presentation Mode is enabled for that meeting
- The meeting is not a workroom
"Presenter not attending meeting"
This means the assigned presenter is not included in the meeting's attendee list.
To fix it:
- Edit the meeting.
- Add the presenter to the attendee list.
- Save the meeting.
- Assign that user as the presenter.
"Error connecting to presentation mode"
Presentation Mode requires a stable real-time connection.
Try the following:
- Check your internet connection.
- Refresh the page.
- Sign out and sign back in if the issue continues.
- Try a supported browser such as Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
"Error getting socket io jwt" or "Authentication error"
These errors usually mean your presentation session or sign-in session has expired.
To fix it:
- Sign out of Govenda.
- Sign back in.
- Reopen the meeting.
- Go to the Agenda tab and try starting or joining the presentation again.
No presenter is assigned
If Presentation Mode is enabled but no presenter is assigned, Govenda may prompt someone to become the presenter.
If you see a prompt asking whether you want to become the presenter, choose Become Presenter only if you should control the presentation.
