If your company requires two-factor authentication (2FA), you'll need offline security codes to sign in to the Govenda mobile app when you don't have an internet connection. This article explains how to generate, use, and manage them.
How it works
You receive 12 single-use 6-digit codes at a time. Each code can only be used once. When you run out, you need to generate a new set while connected to the internet.
How to generate codes
On iPhone / iPad:
- Sign in to the Govenda app while connected to the internet.
- Go to Settings > Login Security Codes.
- Tap Generate Codes.
- Write down, save, or print the codes immediately — they are only displayed once and cannot be retrieved later.
On Android: Codes are generated automatically when you first set up offline access on your device.
How to use an offline code
- Open the Govenda app while not connected to the internet.
- Enter your email address and password.
- When prompted for a verification code, enter one of your unused 6-digit offline codes.
"Invalid 6 digit code provided"
Check for typos — make sure you entered all 6 digits correctly. Make sure you're using a code from your current set (not an old set from a previous generation).
"This offline code has already been used previously"
Each code can only be used once. Use a different, unused code from your list.
No codes available / prompted for a code but you don't have any
All 12 of your codes have been used. You need to:
- Connect to the internet.
- Sign in to the Govenda app online.
- Go to Settings > Login Security Codes and generate a new set.
Running low on codes?
On iPhone/iPad, you'll see a warning when you have fewer than 4 codes remaining:
"You have [X] remaining security codes left to login offline. To generate new offline codes, log in when connected to the internet and go to: Settings > Login Security Codes."
Tip: Generate new codes before traveling or attending off-site meetings where you may not have reliable internet.
