The Govenda mobile app lets you access previously viewed board materials without an internet connection. This article explains the requirements, what's available offline, and common issues.
Requirements for offline access
Your device must meet all of the following:
- Device security lock: A PIN, passcode, fingerprint, or Face ID must be enabled on your device.
- Govenda email and password login: You must sign in with a Govenda email and password. SSO (Single Sign-On) accounts cannot use offline mode — this is a security restriction on both iOS and Android.
- Non-rooted device (Android only): Rooted Android devices cannot use offline mode.
How offline access works
Content is cached on your device as you view it while online. You must open a document, meeting, or agenda item at least once while connected to the internet for it to be available offline. Content you haven't viewed yet will not be available offline.
What's available offline vs. what requires internet
Available offline: Previously viewed meetings, previously viewed and cached documents, agenda items (if previously viewed).
Requires internet: Surveys, voting and polls, eSignatures, meeting attendance, messaging and discussions, RSVP, search and Ask Gabii.
Offline error messages on iOS
When you try to access content that isn't cached or a feature that requires internet, you may see:
- "This meeting is not available offline. To view offline access it beforehand while online."
- "This agenda is not available offline."
- "Agenda votes are not available offline."
- "eSignatures are not available in offline mode."
- "This survey is not available to take offline."
- "The file you are looking for is not available offline. Access it while online beforehand."
- "Attendance taking is unavailable while offline."
Why did my offline data disappear?
Your offline data is automatically deleted if:
- You removed your device security lock (PIN, passcode, fingerprint, or Face ID) — the app immediately wipes all offline data to protect sensitive board materials.
- Your administrator performed a remote wipe — see [My Offline Data Disappeared] for details.
- You signed out of the app.
- The offline database became corrupted (rare) — signing back in and re-viewing content will restore your cache.
SSO users and offline access
If your organization uses Single Sign-On (SSO), offline mode is not available on the mobile app. This is a security restriction. You must have a Govenda email and password login to use offline features.
