If you're having trouble uploading a file to Govenda, find the error you're seeing below.
Supported file types
Govenda accepts the following file formats:
- Documents: PDF, Word (.doc, .docx), Excel (.xls, .xlsx), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx)
- Images: JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF
- Other standard office formats are generally supported
File size limits
- General document uploads (agenda items, document library, workrooms): 1 GB
- eSignature documents: 16 MB
- Supporting files for eSignatures: 1 GB
"File(s) must be of type: [list of accepted types]"
The file you selected is not in an accepted format. Check the file extension and try uploading in one of the supported formats listed above. If your file is in an unusual format, try converting it to PDF first.
"Files must be less than 1GB. Please choose a smaller file."
Your file exceeds the 1 GB size limit. Try compressing the file (for PDFs, use a PDF optimizer), splitting the file into smaller parts, or reducing image resolution if the file contains high-resolution images.
"Supporting files must be less than [size]. Please choose a smaller file."
Same as above — reduce the file size to fit within the limit.
"File is too large to be added as an eSignature"
eSignature documents have a stricter 16 MB limit. To resolve, optimize the PDF (remove unnecessary images, flatten layers), reduce the number of pages if possible, or use a PDF compression tool.
General upload tips
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection — large file uploads can fail on slow or intermittent connections.
- Don't navigate away from the page or close the browser tab while a file is uploading.
- If an upload fails repeatedly, try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser.
- Password-protected PDFs can be uploaded, but they may cause issues during board book compilation (appearing as blank placeholder pages). Consider removing password protection before uploading when possible.
